City 1991 - 1992

This City series is inspired by my first adult experience with Chicago when I fell in love with the monumentality and surreal scale of the modern city. Taking cues from de Chirico, I focused on the surreal nature of the patterns of architecture, shadow, light, and scale, while exploring the romanticism of Friedrich with the framing of the sky by city elements or by a single person stopping to take in the beautiful day.
